Google announced new investments in solar energy projects in California

Google has announced that it will be investing more than $90 million in new solar energy projects next year.

The projects can be found in Sacramento, California, home to one of the most innovative alternative energy industries in the U.S. The technology company has long been interested in solar power and has invested heavily in several projects in the past. Google’s current efforts to support the growing solar energy industry may be spurred by news that rival Apple’s new headquarters will receive much of its energy from the sun thanks to a massive solar array located on its roof.

The new solar project in California aims to generate more than 88 megawatts of electricity, which is enough to power 13,000 homes. According to Google, the company’s total investments in alternative energy projects have reached $915 million thanks to the latest solar energy project.

Google has plans to continue investing in alternative energies, such as wind and hydrogen, next year.

Some of the biggest players in the growing alternative energy are proving to be technology companies rather than utilities and traditional energy companies. Apple and Google have both established a strong presence in the industry, claiming that the environment is a main factor in their adoption of solar power. These companies bring more interest to the industry, as many smaller companies often follow the lead of their larger counterparts, leading to a phenomenon that expands the industry as a whole.
