Daimler seeks to expand its network of partners promoting hydrogen energy

Daimler, one of the world’s leading car manufacturers, has big plans for the hydrogen industry.

The famous company has been hard at work establishing a hydrogen fuel infrastructure in Europe in preparation for the release of hydrogen-powered vehicles, most of which will be launched in 2013. The company is looking to expand its efforts, however, looking to spur progress toward a worldwide transition to hydrogen fuel. Daimler is looking to form more fuel cell partnerships by the end of this year in order to make such a goal possible.

Daimler is well known for their Mercedes-Benz vehicles, which were one of the first to show off the capabilities of hydrogen fuel cells. The company has been working closely with other automakers to establish a working infrastructure capable of supporting massive amounts of hydrogen-powered vehicles and is looking to widen that network in the near future.

Daimler has a particular interest in pursuing companies that are developing advanced versions of fuel cells that are more efficient and cost-effective than older models.

As it stands, the worldwide hydrogen fuel industry is undergoing promising growth, spurring the belief that hydrogen may become the primary source of fuel for transportation. Daimler is keen to solidify this notion and hopes to quicken the progression toward this end. If the company’s efforts in establishing an infrastructure are successful, one of the major barriers keeping hydrogen fuel from widespread adoption will have been overcome.
