Honda R&D Americas Inc., the research and development branch of the acclaimed automaker focusing on the development of new technologies, has reached a breakthrough in its mission to produce new technologies with complete autonomy.

The company was first founded in 1975 and has since been researching a number of alternative energy technologies and how they can be applied to vehicles in the future. Today, the company has attained its goal of “complete product creation” and can now begin producing new vehicles that are specifically designed with consumers in mind.

The company has been researching the market value of both Honda and Acura vehicles amongst consumers since its founding. Much of the research conducted by the company has been used by Honda to make safer and more efficient vehicles. Much of the automakers fuel cell technology is derived from the findings of Honda R&D Americas.

Given this experience, the company is poised to establish a foothold in the emerging alternative energy transportation industry.

The company will continue the development of new vehicle designs that incorporate alternative energies such as hydrogen fuel. One of the main goals is to make fuel cells more cost effective so as to make hydrogen-powered vehicles more accessible to consumers when Honda releases these vehicles in 2013. Honda R&D Americas will play a larger role in the development of these vehicles in the future.
