Bertrand Piccard Plans a Nine Day Global Flight on Green Hydrogen
For more hydrogen news: https://www.hydrogenfuelnews.com/featured-news/ A decade after his solar-powered flight, Swiss pioneer Bertrand Piccard is leading Climate Impulse, a project to fly a two-seater plane nonstop around the world in nine days using green hydrogen. The flight will take this long because the plane, designed for energy efficiency, flies at a relatively low speed of 180 kilometers per hour (100 knots) and an altitude of 10,000 feet. Backed by Airbus and Syensqo, the team plans test flights next year and the full journey by 2028. The plane will use liquid hydrogen in ultra-insulated tanks to power fuel cells, emitting only water vapor. Challenges include maintaining hydrogen at -253°C, leak-proof tanks, and scaling green hydrogen production. While commercial hydrogen-powered flight is decades away, Piccard aims to prove its potential and inspire greener aviation technologies. #hydrogennews #greenhydrogen #cleanaviation 📚Grab Our FREE H2 ebook Today: https://www.hydrogenfuelnews.com/featured-news/ 🚘Like Cars?
