The Chilean Congress is the national legislative body responsible for reviewing and approving legislation. The Green Hydrogen Industry Promotion Bill was submitted to the Chamber of Deputies in August 2025 and sent to the Finance Committee for legislative processing. According to recent reports, the bill has been approved by the congressional finance committee after negotiations with government ministers and is now heading for a parliamentary vote in the Chamber of Deputies.

This committee, composed of the Ministries of Finance, Energy, and Economy, is responsible for allocating tax credits through annual competitions aimed at new green hydrogen production projects. The committee will conduct six tenders between 2025 and 2030 for the allocation of tax credits, with a design that grants a greater volume of credits in early years and progressively establishes decreasing ceilings on benefit amounts.

Green hydrogen can be converted into derivative compounds such as ammonia (NH3) and methanol (CH3OH) for easier storage, transportation, and use in various applications. These derivatives are included in Chile's tax credit scheme, as they represent important forms for hydrogen utilization and export.
