ENEOS will produce hydrogen at refueling stations, primarily located in Tokyo, and supply it to the ship’s storage modules, drawing on its experience in building and operating hydrogen stations across Japan.[6] This involves upstream hydrogen production, compression, storage at the station, and delivery to the port-side infrastructure used to refuel the vessel.[6][15]

The maritime hydrogen fuel cell system developed by Yanmar Power Solutions is an integrated power system that uses hydrogen as a fuel to generate electricity onboard ships, producing no greenhouse gases or nitrogen oxides during operation.[5] It is tailored for maritime environments, including marine-specific safety features, integration with ship power distribution, and compatibility with high-pressure hydrogen storage modules.[5]

The ship will use hydrogen storage modules provided by Toyota Motor Corporation as part of its fuel supply system, leveraging Toyota’s experience with high-pressure hydrogen tanks used in fuel cell vehicles and other applications.[10] These modules are designed to safely store compressed hydrogen onboard and deliver it at controlled pressure and flow to the fuel cell system.[10]

A new dining cruise ship for Tokyo Bay that will use a Yanmar maritime hydrogen fuel cell system and Toyota hydrogen storage modules, supplied with hydrogen by ENEOS, to provide a low-emission cruise experience and advance practical hydrogen use in the maritime sector.

An integrated hydrogen fuel cell power system for marine applications that generates electricity from hydrogen with zero greenhouse gas and NOx emissions during operation, designed to meet maritime safety and performance requirements.[5]

High-pressure hydrogen storage modules derived from automotive fuel cell technology, configured for non-automotive applications such as ships and heavy vehicles, providing safe onboard storage and delivery of hydrogen to fuel cells.[10]
