A research project to develop and test a membrane-based device for direct seawater electrolysis to produce hydrogen. The device uses a fluorine-rich porous membrane to separate seawater from potassium hydroxide electrolyte, overcoming corrosion and side-reaction barriers.

A hydrogen production device that splits saltwater directly using a fluorine-rich porous membrane to separate seawater from a concentrated potassium hydroxide electrolyte solution. The device overcomes corrosion and side-reaction problems inherent in traditional seawater electrolysis and has demonstrated operational durability exceeding 3,200 hours.
