Hydrogen produced from renewable electricity sources, considered a critical component for hydrogen's long-term credibility as a clean fuel.

Renewable ammonia, often called green ammonia, is ammonia produced from green hydrogen and nitrogen from the air, typically using the Haber–Bosch process powered by low-carbon electricity, and is promoted both as a low-carbon fertilizer feedstock and as an energy carrier for storing and transporting green hydrogen over long distances.[7][1] ACWA Power’s projects in Saudi Arabia and other regions focus on converting green hydrogen into ammonia for easier export to markets such as Europe and Asia, including potential future supply to South Korean refineries and power plants.[7][1]

East Asia

The world's largest green hydrogen production plant being constructed in Oxagon, Saudi Arabia. The facility will integrate up to 5 gigawatts of solar and wind energy to produce up to 600 tons of carbon-free hydrogen per day, with all output exported globally as green ammonia.

A renewable ammonia project in Yanbu, Saudi Arabia, led by ACWA Power, targeting more than 2 million tonnes per year of ammonia production and focused on supplying European offtakers under EU renewable fuel regulations.
