Hydrogen produced at the Cachimayo plant is used to synthesize ammonia, which then serves as the main feedstock for producing ammonium nitrate, a key component of ANFO (ammonium nitrate–fuel oil) explosives widely used in mining.[1][4] Enaex emphasizes that Cachimayo is the only plant in Peru producing ANFO-grade ammonium nitrate and that this ammonium nitrate is a fundamental input for the mining explosives supplied to its clients.[4][7]
