Elemental Energy Unveils Hydrogen Fuel Cell Microgrids to Replace Diesel on Construction Sites
July 3, 2025Elemental Energy, a UK-based clean tech company, has just rolled out two brand-new hybrid microgrid systems — the H2IPO200 and H2IPO500. Designed for construction sites and off-grid locations across the UK and Europe, these compact power solutions aim to kick dirty diesel generators to the curb.
Hydrogen fuel cells and batteries team up
These systems are built around cutting-edge hydrogen fuel cell technology from Toyota Motor Europe, paired with integrated batteries to keep the power flowing smoothly. The hubs use PEM fuel cells to generate power silently and without emissions, making them a strong zero-emission alternative in places where clean energy has traditionally been tough to access.
Plug-and-play power with low noise and zero emissions
What makes these systems stand out? They’re versatile, easy to set up, and offer modular outputs of 100, 200, or 500kVA. Thanks to a smartly designed 99kg hydrogen mini-trailer by Elemental, keeping them fueled up is straightforward—no complicated infrastructure required. With a projected service life of over 15 years, they’re built to last in tough environments while helping to push forward industrial decarbonization.
Showcased at VINCI’s Innovation Inspiration Day
The launch was revealed during the Innovation Inspiration Day 2025 hosted by the VINCI Group, an event that brought together key players across industries to spotlight cleaner, smarter energy solutions. Elemental’s hybrid microgrids fit that bill perfectly—cutting down emissions, reducing noise pollution, and streamlining energy access on sites that often struggle with limited grid support.
In a world moving rapidly toward zero-emission technology, this kind of practical, clean energy setup is just what the construction and off-grid sectors have been waiting for.
