Hyosung Heavy Industries and Seoul Energy Corporation have teamed up to fast-track the rollout of hydrogen infrastructure in Seoul and beyond. The two sides made it official on May 28, 2025, signing an agreement that aims to kick-start a bunch of ambitious projects — from setting up liquefied hydrogen charging stations to localizing key technologies and building clean hydrogen power systems.

Building Up South Korea’s Hydrogen Network

One of the big goals? Rolling out 21 hydrogen stations across the country. They’ve already marked a solid first step with a completed station in Gwangyang. Alongside that, they’re focused on laying out safety regulations and helping Seoul step into the spotlight as a leader in hydrogen mobility.

Hyosung brings a solid track record to the table — over 20 years of experience with hydrogen production technology and solid partnerships, including a major joint venture with Linde for both production and sales. On the flip side, Seoul Energy Corporation makes sure everything aligns with city policies and keeps the momentum going within the public sector.

A Boost for the Hydrogen Economy and Clean Jobs

This partnership is more than just a business deal — it’s a big step forward for South Korea’s plans to build a thriving hydrogen economy. It fits right into the nation’s long-term goals for carbon neutrality, while also fueling sustainable energy growth and expanding clean transportation options. On top of all that, it’s likely to create new jobs and drive innovation in fuel cell technology and other clean tech sectors right here at home.
