Khimod Secures €23M to Scale Power-to-X and Green Hydrogen Production
July 4, 2025French climate tech startup Khimod just closed a major deal—securing €23 million in funding to fast-track the rollout and commercialization of its breakthrough Power-to-X (PtX) technology. The funding round was led by Bpifrance’s SPI Fund and Audacia’s Industrial Decarbonisation Fund, both betting big on Khimod’s potential to shake up the clean energy space.
Turning CO2 and green hydrogen into clean fuels
At the heart of Khimod’s innovation is its unique Heat Exchanger-Reactors (HERs). These compact, high-efficiency units take green hydrogen—produced through electrolysis using renewable energy—and combine it with captured CO2 to create clean synthetic fuels like e-methanol, e-methane, and even sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). It’s a smart, scalable way to cut emissions where it’s needed most—in hard-to-decarbonize industries.
Pushing Power-to-X forward across Europe
This new funding injection will help scale up some pretty ambitious projects already in the pipeline. Think France’s Thor, Italy’s Pegasus, and Khimod’s very first SAF production site, Avebio, which is expected to go live by the end of 2025. These are bold steps toward meeting the EU’s climate targets and slashing its dependency on fossil fuel imports by ramping up domestic hydrogen production and e-fuel capabilities.
Leading the sustainable energy transition with scalable tech
What sets Khimod apart? Its entire approach centers on being modular and efficient—perfect for rapidly deploying Power-to-X solutions at scale. As Europe pushes forward with the green energy transition, Khimod is positioning itself as a key player in the shift to sustainable energy with cutting-edge solutions designed to work in the real world—right now.
