Thor Energy Advances Natural Hydrogen Exploration at South Australia’s HY-Range Project

Thor Energy plc has just wrapped up a major geochemical survey at its HY-Range project in South Australia, and things are definitely looking interesting. The team collected data from more than 100 soil air sample sites, using advanced mobile gas chromatography.

What makes this survey stand out is how it evolved as it went on. Instead of sticking rigidly to the original plan, the team adapted in real time, responding to what they were finding on the ground—pretty smart move. This flexibility allowed them to gather even more data than expected. Located under license RSEL 802, HY-Range is one of only a few projects in the region with a green light for exploration, putting it right in the middle of Australia’s fast-growing sustainable energy scene.

Big results on the horizon

The full results of the survey are due out soon, and they’ll play a major role in shaping what comes next—especially when it comes to decisions around drilling and scaling up investments. This survey follows Thor’s strategic move earlier in the year, when it acquired Go Exploration back in February 2025. That deal gave them a stronger foothold in South Australia and added fuel to their ambitions in the hydrogen production and helium sectors.

Powering the future with clean resources

If the numbers stack up, Thor could find itself leading the charge in producing natural hydrogen and helium—two elements that are expected to play crucial roles in industrial decarbonization and long-term energy security. This isn’t just a one-off push either. It’s part of a broader movement across Australia to tap into zero-emission technology and roll out stronger hydrogen infrastructure.

Bottom line? Thor Energy isn’t just poking around in the dirt—they’re laying the groundwork for the clean energy economy of tomorrow.
