Problems with hydrogen fuel cells may have been solved by high school student

Advances in the world of hydrogen fuel can come from unexpected places. For decades, scientists from various disciplines have worked to make hydrogen fuel and fuel cells a viable energy source. These efforts have been met with varying degrees of success, but none have yet brought hydrogen into the mainstream of energy. One high school senior in Kansas, however, may have managed to solve some of the fundamental problems with hydrogen fuel. The student’s technology may be enough to bring fuel cells into the mainstream.

Quantum mechanics and nuclear physics provide base fore fuel cells system

Hunter Browning, a senior at the Blue Valley High School in Kansas, has developed a hydrogen fuel cell system that is based on quantum mechanics and nuclear physics. Browning, a student of the school’s Center for Advanced Professional Studies, has remained tight-lipped about the system, as he believes oil companies will attempt to steal the technology or attempt to purchase it as a way to keep it suppressed. What is known is that the technology is protected by seven patents and has successfully created two companies.

Fuel cell project leads to launch of new company

The system is meant to produce electrical power by using hydrogen. To produce the gas, the system separates hydrogen and oxygen molecules. This is typical of other fuel cell systems, but Browning’s conducts this process in a very different way because it applies quantum mechanics. Browning elaborated on the system and his views as to its use during a presentation at the Center for Advanced Professional Studies. After an hour-and-a-half presentation, which was originally meant to be only thirty minutes, Browning’s system garnered enough support to establish his own company, whose most basic principle is to help people around the world.

System still in early stages of life

Browning is currently working on producing large scale versions of his fuel cell system that will be capable of provided vehicles with power. Given the auto industry recent love for hydrogen fuel, this system may one day become widely used and popular. For now, however, it is still in the early stages of its life.
