Former Chairman of California Air Resources Board John Dunlap Joins HyTech Power’s Board of Directors
December 14, 2017HyTech Power, a hydrogen energy solutions company, today announced that John Dunlap III has joined its board of directors.
Dunlap brings extensive experience to HyTech Power as former chair of the California Air Resources Board (CARB), where he was responsible for developing critical regulatory programs to address complex air quality and public health challenges under Governor Pete Wilson. Currently, Dunlap owns and operates The Dunlap Group, focused on developing and implementing strategies for regulatory advocacy and compliance.
Dunlap joins HyTech Power’s board as the company prepares to launch its first hydrogen product, an internal combustion assistance (ICA) technology, promising breakthrough diesel emission reductions while significantly increasing fuel efficiency and engine performance.
“This company has an extremely bright future, with a patented technology that immediately meets regulatory demands for decreased diesel fuel emissions,” stated Dunlap. “Not only is HyTech Power’s technology solution already achieving compelling beta test results in every category, but it is perfectly timed for customers to meet new fuel emission compliance regulations in 2018 and beyond. I look forward to working with HyTech Power’s board of directors and broader team to advance the commercialization of this important technology.”
Dunlap has been front and center in California environmental issues for the past 30 years. During his nearly two decades in local and state government, he has chaired CARB, arguably the most powerful environmental regulatory organization in the U.S., served as the chief deputy director of the California Department of Toxic Substances Control, as well as the management district public advisor for South Coast Air Quality.
“We are very fortunate to have John on HyTech Power’s board of directors as we create the future of hydrogen power. With his extensive background and experience in environmental government regulation, John is ideally suited to position the company to capitalize on our next phase of growth,” said Henry Dean, executive chairman of the board of HyTech Power. “We are poised to rapidly deploy technology that improves diesel engine emissions to meet international standards, dramatically improve operating margins and create long-term health benefits for society.”
Dunlap joins HyTech Power’s other board members, Doug Jewett; Admiral William J. McDaniel, U.S. Navy (retired); William Zielke; Phillip Jennings (CEO); Evan Johnson (CTO); and Henry Dean, chairman of the board. Jewett is the former Seattle City Attorney General, and recently sold his air compression firm to a large international organization related to the energy field. Admiral McDaniel serves on the board of a number of medical technology companies and was previously appointed to manage NGO activities in the U.S. Tsunami Relief Program in Indonesia under President George Bush. Zielke is a former General Motors and Delphi executive with more than 30 years’ experience in the automotive industry.
This announcement comes on the heels of the company’s appointment last month of Jerry Allyne as its president. As previously reported, HyTech Power has been in stealth mode, developing three complementary technologies that offer a pathway to clean, efficient and renewable energy, using hydrogen as the power source. HyTech Power’s ICA product is a patented hydrogen fuel-injection system delivering substantial fuel efficiencies while significantly decreasing emissions and maintenance cost. The ICA is currently undergoing its CARB verification and is expected to become commercially available in the first quarter of 2018.
